At First United Methodist Church, we believe that the children are vital members of our church community. Therefore, we offer Sunday School classes to children as early as age three through our high school youth. We have a Children’s Choir, and Bell Choirs for our children and youth. We also have a Sunday School Christmas program in December and Vacation Bible School in the summer, along with other various fellowship opportunities throughout the year to foster their relationships with each other, our church community as a whole and, most importantly, with God.
The Community Latchkey Program is a state licensed after school program for grades K-4 for children attending USD #415 school district who would otherwise go home to an empty house. We are staffed by a paid Program Director, Corinne Weldon, an Assistant Program Director, Christy Hageman, and volunteers from the community. For more information send an email to latchkey@hiawathafirstumc.org
Happy Days Preschool provides a safe and caring learning environment to play, learn and grow. We believe that:
-Children learn best at this stage of life by using their senses and moving around
-Each child learns at their own pace
-Children learn through language and rapidly developing their language skills
-Preschool children need hands on experiences with a wide variety of materials
-Families and teachers are partners in supporting the child's development and learning
